Timon of Athens
Hey Friends
Named after Athena, the goddess of wisdom and warfare, Athens is the heart of prehistoric Greek civilization, power and the birthplace of democracy.
When we arrived, we took a walk into town and came across a theatre at the base of the Acropolis of Athens. We booked tickets for a show in the Odeon of Herodes Atticus theatre. The acoustics were insane however the music was rather peculiar and noisy.
The next day we visited the Temple of Zeus (God of mankind, lightning and smiting his enemies) and met our tour guide who took us on an insanely lengthy walk through Athens and all the way up the Acropolis. We saw everything we needed to see of Athens city on this tour and spent the rest of the day at the museum. (Pictures to be posted on instagram)
The following day, we boarded a bus where we met another tour guide, Gerry (a lady), who took us on the tour of our life. She was fun and bursting with energy. We ended the tour at one of the most southern tips of Athens and watched the sunset from Poseidon's temple (God of the sea, earthquakes and horses).
Shakespeare wrote a play based on Timon of Athens. A wealthy man who materialistically spoiled his parasitic companions, until they ran his wealth to the ground. He had nothing, and was then rejected by everyone who fed off his success.
The company you surround yourself with in your twenties not only depicts how you'll turn out, your views and perspective on life itself, but most importantly the safety net you can rely on during this time of uncertainty, growth and decline.
Life is not a straight line, there's plentiful ups and downs throughout each level of growth. You can not do everything alone, and should seek support. It's important to form valuable connections in which the scales of give and take are balanced. Take Timon's experience as being used and drained of his wealth as a lesson on who to keep around and whether you have more to offer than what's in your pockets.
Have a meaningful week!

✈️ Athens Hotel -
The room we selected has full window that has views of the acropolis and the Temple of Zeus and Acropolis of Athens. The room was luxurious and spacious. We didn’t spend much time at the hotel, but when we did, we enjoyed the refreshing pool in the hotel courtyard.
